Helpful Hints Due to elevation & wind the course
will play firm. Hole # 1 - 200 yards to top of hill Hit all you want
2 - Lay up 150 yards mid to low iron to green 3 - Plays short 100
yard shot 4 - Iron shot Stay left for shot at green 5 - 180 yards
or go for green Risk & reward shot 8 - Beware of water on right 10
- Stay at top Narrows to water on right & left 11 - Plays short Stay
to right of rock Sand trap on right side 12 - 220 yards to end of
fairway 150 yard shot to green 13 - Don't go long 14 - 210 yards to
top of hill 150 yards to green 16 - Fairway slopes to water 210 yards
to carry off back tee. |

This course is a beast! Narrow with lots of hazards
& trees - Hilly & very bumpy - Fairways are just as bumpy as the rough
- Course is very weedy & is surrounded by farms on all four sides.
The course is back to par 71 now. The fairway on the par 4 has been
repaired. This course has really matured the last couple of years.
Greens are fast, but roll pretty true. The course still lives up to
it's name of "The Badlands". It is a tough one. |
Recently played Cedar Valley in Tipton, IA. See why it's
called the Badlands!!! The most brutal course I have ever played by far.
Very unforgiving, unless you hit absolute straight on every shot while
battling 40 mph crosswinds, you are in trouble. Holes 3-5 are the toughest
holes I have ever seen, BUT very picturesque and scenic. - M.R., 10/21/07
I might mention that when they hold their 4-Man Best
Shot tournament, they have a hole-in-one contest on #9 that pays $20,000
for a hole-in-one. See the flyer
... # 9 is a nasty little par 3 over a pond to an elevated green that
is almost impossible to stop a shot on. The greens slopes off on 3 sides
& any shots not landing on the back 10 feet or so of the green will roll
off to the left or right or all the way back off the front. I don't even
want to talk about putting on this green, but I will. The green is as
hard as the cart paths, so just imagine tilting a pool table at about
a 30 degree angle & trying to get a putt close. Good luck.... - T.S.,
