If you decide to hit off the grass, I suggest you bring along a portable mat. The night lights have not been used for more years than I can remember. There are no yardage stakes on the course and the greens are fairly unpredictable because of the different types of grass/ bald areas, or length of grass cut. You play on a first come first serve basis, and can play the course alone if you choose. The grill serves good food though it may take awhile to get it. The people that work in the clubhouse are always helpful and very friendly. - Bob S. (4/1/09)

I am a regular traveler to California from the UK. I am privileged to stay with my American "Brother", Ex WWC Wrestler Mark "The Hammer" Hayes, who introduced me to Quail Valley Golf Course. Back in March 2004, We took ex Mr Universe, Mr America, Mr USA, Mr World and Mr Olympia, Ed Corney, who incidentally was co star of the film Pumping Iron and is also a very good friend of Arnold Schwarzenegger, along to the course. Though Ed could not play, due to health reasons, he did pilot a golf cart and signed a few autographs along the way. I have played the course many times as "The Hammer" lives pretty close by and I have found it to be a fabulous, challenging 9 holes. There is a friendly, family atmosphere, though of course this changes whilst playing, but all in all a great days golfing. I do have some pics of our Foursome, Ed Corney, The Hammer, Willy Golden and myself before tee off. I also have a great pic of Ed Corney and Dave Mata shaking hands too, with the course in the background. All the staff are a credit to the course. Dan Radabaugh is always there to correct your swing and Tina Gibson is so helpful around the Pro shop area. Honestly speaking, and as a guy that has played the UK and European courses ie Spain and Portugal, my days at The Quail Valley, Grass Valley, California have been fantastic and memorable. Kind regards Mac Campbell from the UK (8/12/04)
