Vanderbilt Country Golf Classic near Ellensburg, Washington scheduled for Sunday, July 8, 2007 - See past years' scenes from the Vanderbilt Classic!

The Vanderbilt Country Golf Classic was established in 2004. We look forward to the Fourth Annual event to be held on Sunday, July 8, 2007 (note new date!) at Vanderbilt Country Estates of Ellensburg, Washington. Remember to bring your own drinks of choice and don't forget the sunscreen and mosquito repellant.

The crowd starts to gather at the "classic clubhouse" a little after noon. This year the day of play is to be the first Sunday in July. Players pick up a score card and course map at the tent situated off of Vanderbilt Road, Ellensburg. Each group of players to go out will include someone who has played the course previously to avoid confusion along the way. The usual assortment of Pasture Golf Tacky Golf Awards shall be presented to the first three places and other notable performances (for example, most balls lost) immediately after play and lunch is served.

The golf course for this event is situated between the Pump and Gravity Laterals beyond the end of Vanderbilt Road, off of Fourth Parallel Road, Ellensburg. The course is over rolling terrain and will feature target greens. Ground is too rough to putt. Course designer during the early years was Fred "Hicklaus" Hicks whose good fortune of marrying this year is our misfortune as he will no longer be able to make it to our event. We wish him every happiness. In his honor the course shall remain the "Hicklaus" original, basically as he envisioned it, though it will likely continue to receive adjustments in various aspects such as placement of target holes, line of play across draws, ditches, gullies, fields, etc. Hope to see you there!
